           HOW PAT ROBERTSON'S 700 CLUB LETTER STRENGTHENED ME

I've probably contacted CBN and the 700 club more than any person on Earth. I personally know how David felt about those Demon Princes persecuting him (Psalm 119:161; Daniel 10:13; Ephesians 6:12-18; Psalm 69:1-4, 14) and also how Paul felt being "buffeted" by Satan's angelic messenger (2 Corinthians 12:7). So I know how my pleas for Deliverance could cause others to tell me to "shut up" (Job 4:2). Yet I also know that Jesus said to keep seeking and asking to be Saved (Matt 7:7; Luke 18:3-8).

I want to thank all the ministries who personally prayed with me and/or contacted me. When God blessed me with finances (as He said He would Psalm 112:2-4) I immediately donated to such ministries and also tithed to my Church (Malachi 3:10). God has continued to be Loving, Giving, Wonderful and totally Awesome through my Deep (Psalm 69:2) "stay" in the Darkness (Psalm 112:4; Psalm 30:5b).

I remember as a young child watching Pat Robertson with my father. Mr. Robertson always tells it like it is. He didn't pull any punches in his letter to me. I'm so thank-ful he responded. God is working something out in me AND I HATE THE DEEP (PSALM 69:1-4, 14; Romans 10:7)!

Here is Pat Robertson's letter to me. I'm going to pin it on my wall and read it daily:

Dear Gary,

Thank-you for allowing us (CBN) to share with you concerning the need to trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6). When you turn to Him for comfort and reassurance, realize that His response includes the wisdom of One who is seeing beyond the present situation, into the past, and into the future. His ultimate concern for your welfare centers around the destiny of your soul. He will use all things together to bring you to spiritual good health (Romans 8:28).

When things are good in life, our human nature tends to become lax about thanking and praising God for His goodness. Trouble, on the other hand, gets our attention right away, and we are usually quick to call on the One who always comes through for us. Thank God for the trials in life that draw us back to Him.

You may never understand the wisdom of why certain things were allowed to occur in your life. In difficult and trying times, you must believe that God is doing the very best thing for you and your loved ones (Gary's Note- I want to add that my sister was also attacked and died shortly thereafter. The attack occurred as I was reading Psalm Chapter 50. This chapter informs us of God's warning against a slanderous sister. I don't know if this evil attack had anything to do with my sister's death (she did from medical complications), but these things happened close in time)). If you learn to trust Him in the small things of your day-to-day living, then you will have your faith strengthened to trust Him in the hard times too.

As trials come and go, remember that the Lord's ways are not ours. Our pleading prayers (Gary's notes-yes I do alot of crying out (Psalm 34:17) and pleading with God for Deliverance from this "Valley of The Shadow Of Death (Psalm 23:4)" and "Deep/Mire (Psalm 69:1-4, 14)". And believe me, like that widow I'm going to keep "crying out" and "asking" for God's Deliverance. I also am working with the Holy Ghost to put on the Armor of God (Ephesisans 6:11-18), cultivate the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and cultivate the Mind of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:7). I'll do whatever God wants to get out of this "Deep"). won't always bring the answers we want. Then we must pray as Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane to His Father saying, "not My will, but Your will" (Mark 14:36). His will for us is to lean on His wisdom and love, not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). When we join our Lord in Eternity, we will be able to say of every trial as Joseph (Gary's notes-Joseph was also through in a dark cave and prison(s) until God promoted him) said to his brothers, "Though it was meant for evil, my God used it for good."

May God bless you with the comfort of His presence.

I would never have imagined these things to befall him. Yet I have learned so much from this experience. GOD IS TOTALLY AWESOME. Even when He allows you to be struck (bad or unwanted times) He is still awesome (2 Corinthians 12:8-11).

I want to thank Pat Robertson, Richard Roberts, and many other "Leaders In The Faith" for personally writing me. I want to thank the thousands of prayer partners who have prayed for me.

I want to thank anyone and everyone who really cared about my plight or who took out time to pray with or encourage me.

There were Christians who responded like Job's false friends (comforters) or who questioned my veracity and/or sanity. I'll be honest, I didn't originally like these persons but they also strengthened me.

I felt alone. I was mad at God. My earthly father physically abused me and now my Heavenly Father was allowing me to be persecuted (Psalm 119:161) and buffetted (2 Corinthians 12:7). And this minority of "brethen" helped with their insensitive comments.

I knew then that I would either Trust in God and "rise" and descend deeper into Hell (Ephesians 4:8-12-Spiritual Leaders are "pulled" from the lower parts of the Earth).

I decided to Praise God, reject the Darkness and Cleave to the Light of Jesus Christ (Psalm 112:4; 1 John 1:5; Isaiah 45:5-7).

I HATE THE DEEP (Psalm 69:1-4, 14). Yet I totally love the God Which sent me there (Matthew 22:37-38).

Personally, I hate bunker shot very much. But I know at the same time that a bunker shot is inevitable.

 
Actually there is an easy way to determine the appropriate trajectory that the ball will need to take in order to clear the lip of the bunker.

 

Pick the best club that you think is going to perform. Take the Callaway X-Tour Wedge Chrome or other club outside the bunker and face the target on a line that is behind where conducted by your entire ball is. Place the club on the ground and "gently" stand on the club face with the shaft pointing in the direction of the target.
 
As you press your foot down on the clubface, the shaft will begin to come up at an angle. Appear at this angle and compare it to the lip of the bunker. If the angle is above the lip, you have the proper club and have to be able to clear the bunker lip. However, if the shaft angle is beneath the lip of the bunker, chances are you won't make it out of the bunker and you have to take a person or way more club to increase the trajectory path.
 
Always keep in mind it's better to are available up brief of the green than it is usually to bury your ball in the sandy lip of the bunker.
 
Two things to always keep in mind as very well when playing out of a fairway bunker are: Never wiggle the feet too deep into the sand. This will only make you reduce than the ball and you may possibly strike the ball fat. Second, never endeavor to strike the ball too hard or to "scoop" it out. Just take a normal swing, the same swing you'd make in case you ever had been in the fairway. Trying to "blast" it out will almost always turn out in a poor shot.
 
In one word, the best way to play fairway bunker is keep away from it.

But, however, the preferred advice to playing fairway bunkers is usually to stay out of them altogether! That's what I endeavor to do.

To custom fit your golf clubs, you need to know: your gender (male or female); your height in your stockings or socks; the distance from your wrist (where it bends) to the floor with your shoes off; your age; your handicap or skill level; how fast you swing a golf club; what club you use at the 150 yard marker.

Gender is used to put you into the correct fitting scale for custom golf clubs. The golf industry uses different definitions of "standard length" for men and women.

Your height and the distance in inches from your wrist to the floor are used together to determine the length of a custom golf club that is appropriate for you. The starting point for club length can vary up to 3 ½-inch ranging from ladies to men plus 1 ½-inch. A tall person with long arms can very easily require shorter clubs than an average height person with short arms. About 80 percent of golfers are standard length.

Your age, handicap (if you happen to have one), self-assessed skill level, estimated golf swing speed and club you use at the 150 yard marker are all combined to determined the custom golf club's shaft flex that is appropriate for you.

Custom fitting can fix your slice. If you slice the ball it means that the toe of the club is leading into the ball which opens the face of the club. That may be down to a swing fault, but it could be because the club is too flat. So as part of the custom fitting process you can make the custom golf club more upright to help with this. This will mean that the toe of the club will be slightly off the ground at address to compensate.

There are different methods of fitting according to custom golf club manufacturers but ultimately they are all trying to improve your game. To begin with simple measurements such as wrist-to-floor, height and hand size are taken and will point you to the right size club and at what angle it should be to the ground. Then you will take a club and hit some balls. One method is to place impact tape on the bottom of the custom golf club and an impact board on the floor.

As you hit the ball the board will leave a mark on the tape showing whether the heel or the toe of the custom golf club is striking the floor first. The resulting mark will show whether the club face needs to be flatter or more upright. Then things get a bit more advanced. Analysis equipment can measure everything from your club speed to the side spin of the ball so that you can get maximum distance from your shot. You can also measure the launch angle of the ball, how much backspin you generate and impact efficiency - all which affect distance. The angle in which the custom golf club approaches the ball and the sidespin of it can help fix your game too.

Rather than bringing down your old clubs, it might be better to start from scratch. It's a big misconception that custom fitting is only for good golfers. Anyone can benefit. That said, if you plan to upgrade a new set of clubs with the same manufacturer they may be able to adjust your old set to become custom golf clubs.

Custom fitting won't cure all your bad shots. Coaching will sort that out. But if you do make a good swing, then the custom golf club will arrive correctly at impact and should produce a straight shot at your target. That alone will save shots during a round.

Lastly, custom fitting is often free of charge. But it is usually on the condition that you buy some clubs once you've been fitted. So it really depends on what your budget is. If you're prepared to buy a new set of clubs it's definitely worth getting fitted.

The Shark Club
During the 1990s The Shark Club was one of only two nightclubs in Patong Beach, and by far the better of the two. The Shark Club was a favourite hangout for local Thai girls and freelance bar girls as well as tourists. There were actually a few attractive girls employed by the club as dancers, they would receive a salary for showing up and hanging out and dancing in the club.

Unfortunately the Shark Club in Patong Beach was shut down in 2002. Since the closure of The Shark Club, there has never been another club that enjoyed the same success on the Island of Phuket. The rumors of a new Shark Club opening in a new location have many people brimming with excitement and anticipation. I have many fond memories of the Shark Club, and one of those memories was meeting my long time Thai girlfriend.

How I Met My Thai Girlfriend (Tukta)
I walked into the Shark Club one night in 2001, I was alone, because all of my friends had already picked up bar girls from the beer bars. When I walked into the club it was early, but as was the case on most nights, the club was already near full. I grabbed myself a beer from the bar, and then looked around for a place to sit. I noticed a girl sitting near the back corner of the club, away from the action. She was a sexy little thing, dark skin, big lips, a perfect body and a beautiful face, but this is not what had captured my interest. After all, that could pretty much describe any girl in The Shark Club on any given night.

What I noticed about this girl that separated her from all the girls dancing and gyrating on the dance floor, was that she was sitting with two young children ages about 10-12. I decided to walk over and investigate, so I asked her what she was doing bringing kids out to a club. She introduced herself as "Tukta" (Thai for "baby doll") and she explained that she was looking after the two kids for their father who was from New Zealand.  I was immediately impressed that she would be spending her evening taking care of a couple kids, as apposed to shaking her ass on the dance floor like all the other gourgeous young girls that filled the club that night.

When I asked her if I could buy her a drink, her eyes lit up with excitement. She wasted no time in accepting the invitation, and we started exchanging small talk. Now after a year of living in Phuket and hanging around in bars, I had learned that bar girls usually feed customers a healthy serving of bullshit when it comes to where they are from and what they are all about. Some of the common stories are, that they are from Bangkok (when they are almost always from the northeastern provinces) and that they have just arrived last month (even though they have been working in the bar for years).

So in order to entertain myself, I decided to craft my own bullshit story about where I am from and what I am all about. This would usually involve an alias, a far fetched story about how wealthy I am, and almost always involved a detailed description of my beautiful private villa with an Olympic sized swimming pool. Tukta was not born yesterday, she could see right through the bullshit I was giving her just as easily as I could see through the lies she was telling me. No matter, the both of us very actually quite entertained by each others stories.

After we had enjoyed several hours of conversation over quite a few drinks, I started to wonder where this was heading. I started to ask about these two kids she was looking after. I was thinking that it was quite clear that she was interested in me, and I was certainly interested in her, so I really wanted to know when we could take the kids home to their parents. Each time I had hinted about this, she seemed to avoid the conversation.

At about 1AM, a middle aged man walked off the dance floor and approached our table, it was clear that he was the father of the two children. He was very unfriendly, and he abruptly said to me "who are you"? I introduced myself, and he then says "what are you doing talking to my girlfriend"? Needless to say I was a little caught of guard. I looked at Tukta and she began to assure me that this guy was not her boyfriend.

It then became clear that she must have come to the bar with him, as his girlfriend, but after he spent the entire night dancing with other women while she watched his kids, she decided she was going to move on to bigger and better things. I was unfortunately in an awkward position, however I was too drunk to care. She was beautiful and I had really enjoyed her company, and he seemed like an asshole anyway.

After a brief shouting match between the two of them, Tukta and I left in a taxi en route to my private villa with the Olympic sized pool (actually a small 1 bedroom house without even a bath tub). When the taxi arrived at the house, Tukta was too drunk to walk, so I had to carry her on my shoulders "cave man style". As we approached the front door, she said in a serious tone "where is the swimming pool"?
